So the title of my blog entry came when I read a quote today; "The indispensable first step to getting the things you want out of life is this: decide what you want." Author Unknown
I then thought of an old tv show "the Red Green Show"
where they had a skit about how men can never say those three little words "I don't know"... It was a question answer time and they would pose a question to the men that they really had no answer for but they would make one up just so they didn't have to say "I don't know" One day the question posed was "What do women really want?" I remember that it was hilarious as they tried to answer but I don't remember what their answer was.
It was then that I realized that most women could not answer that question either. And I find that I too am still trying to define what it is that I REALLY want from life. I think I want the basic normal things... A happy husband and children, a peaceful home with love and respect for everyone in it. And I feel so blessed to feel that I have those things. It is easy to know what I want when centered around those I love.
What is hard is defining what I want for myself. Maybe because we feel selfish if we concentrate on what our personal needs are... So my wants are defined in goals I have set... so far these are centered around health... Running, eating well and sleeping more... Yet I know I will spending more time defining why these goals are important to me.
I think if we have a clear view of what we want personally we stand a better chance at really being content when we reach that goal. I see so many women who have met their physical goal and should be enjoying a time of maintenance who are never quiet satisfied. I don't mean to say that a desire to always better yourself is not good, but I think it is healthy and ok to say... I like who I am, how I look and what I am doing in my life.
This is a great question for the time of year we are approaching as well. I think I will be centering my answer on what is going to bring me the most peace and attitude of gratitude in my life...
What do you want in life? Really want? I will have to get back to you as I continue to ponder and define "What I REALLY want".

Great post Sean A'lee, really thoughtful. I think this is an important question for each of us, and I sometimes feel guilty because I've known the answer to that question since I was five. I want to be a famous writer. Not much right? If I ever make it, I'll have a party and invite everyone I know! (But don't book your calendar just yet...) ;)
